Tease

November 17, 2008

Dear Blog,

It’s not that I’m avoiding you.  It’s that my job seems to consist solely of grading test upon test.  As soon as I finish this batch, I’ve got a new set coming in.  We’ll catch up over Christmas.

Love always,

Regan

P.S.  I finished reading Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett a few weeks ago.  I haven’t finished a Newsweek article since, let alone start a new book.  I only give it a 5 out of 10.

P.P.S.  I saw an interesting interview with T. Boone Pickens a few days ago.  I should tell you about it sometime.

Classy

November 5, 2008

I thought McCain’s concession speech last night was terrific and the model of class.  I even teared up a little at times.  I sincerely respect McCain, and I think it’s a shame he finally won his party’s nomination this year because no one with an (R) next to their name was going to be elected president this year thanks to the Bush Administration.

The opposite of classy is those who say “You’re about to get what you deserve because you voted for Obama”.  Like my dad this morning when I dropped my daughter off.

P.S.  Am I the only one that got goosebumps during Obama’s speech?

Christmas Season Eve

November 1, 2008

This morning over breakfast, I smiled at Maren and told her November was my second favorite month because begins the Christmas season.  She replied that the Christmas season starts after Thanksgiving, but I claim otherwise.  I see the relationship between November and December analogous to the relationship between Christmas Eve and Christmas.  By definition, Christmas Eve isn’t until the evening of December 24.  However, everyone recognizes the entirity that day as Christmas Eve.  Likewise, Thanksgiving may really usher in the holiday season, but in our hearts, that momemtum begins Nov. 1.  The day you get sick of candy corn and long for peanut butter fudge.
