Thoughts on last night’s LOST

January 29, 2009

I think it’s clear that Jughead is what is/was/will be buried under the Swan Station.  When Jack and Sayid are under the Swan in Season 2, they come across a cement wall that’s more than 10 feet thick.  Sayid claims the last time he saw something like this was Chernobyl.

Most everyone is on board with Mrs. (Eloise) Hawking is Faraday’s mother (recall Faraday named his rat Eloise).  However, I also believe last night’s Ellie is the very same woman.  If all this is true, it means when, early in the episode, LOST cuts to first-person/shooter mode, the first time Hawking sees her (future) son, she has him in her sights.  Literally.

I thought Desmond played it cool in Widmore’s office last night, but Widmore should have probably been a little more explicit in his warning to Desmond before sending him to L.A., in light of Ben’s promise to kill Penny and Ben being in L.A.  If I were Desmond, I might play my cards differently with that knowledge.

I did tear up a little when it was revealed Desmond and Penny’s son was named Charlie, since it was Charlie that allowed them to be reunited.  I love Penny every time I see her.

Thoughts on LOST

January 28, 2009

This is especially for Andy.

I cannot take credit for most of these thoughts, but these are a few of the thoughts I came across this week that captured my attention.

Why must Locke die for the others to return to the island?  Other than the christological reasons, perhaps a dead body is required for a plane to crash on the island.  A deceased Christian Shepherd was on Oceanic Flight 815 and Mr. Eko’s brother Yemi’s body was on the drug plane that crashed.

Or, for those that like a time loop theory, perhaps the empty coffin found by Jack in Season 1 was not Christian’s, but Locke’s, furthering the analogy of Empty Coffin:Empty Tomb as Locke:Jesus.

I’m glad the writers were able to quickly explain why Hurley did not want to see the other members of the Oceanic 6 in Season 4’s “Ji Yeon”.  He was never comfortable with the lie.

What was with the random story of Sawyer being stabbed in the foot by some bamboo?  Some are speculating that this will lead to an infection that will lead to a toe being removed that will ultimately lead to a four-toed statue.  Maybe.

It was pretty cool to hear Jack echo the sentiment “They aren’t my friends anymore.” that Locke expressed in Season 2’s finale “Live Together, Die Alone”.

I think Charlotte’s a goner.  A “constant” won’t work for her because she is physically jumping through time, not her consciousness like Desmond last year.

Neil Frogurt’s death-by-heartburn is in the Top 2 funny deaths on LOST.

Cheers and happy viewing tonight.

Happy Birthday, Sophia!

January 3, 2009

A very happy birthday goes to my girl Sophie.  You’re just as sweet and cute as ever, but in the past two weeks of being home alone with Daddy, you’ve learned just how to use that charm to get almost anything you want from me.  Careful boys, she’s a heart-breaker.
