Music Challenge

March 27, 2009

Here are the twenty songs I used to create a new playlist for Maren.  A box of Twinkies to the first person that correctly identifies the common thread I used to select these songs.

1.  Call Me – Blondie

2.  Bette Davis Eyes – Kim Carnes

3.  Ebony & Ivory – Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney

4.  Let’s Dance – David Bowie

5.  Hello – Lionel Richie

6.  Everything She Wants – Wham!

7.  Greatest Love of All – Whitney Houston

8.  With or Without You – U2

9.  Anything for You – Gloria Estefan

10.  Forever Your Girl – Paula Abdul

11.  Vogue – Madonna

12.  I Don’t Wanna Cry – Mariah Carey

13.  Jump – Kris Kross

14.  That’s the Way Love Goes – Janet Jackson

15.  I Swear – All-4-One

16.  This Is How We Do It – Montell Jordan

17.  Tha Crossroads – Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

18.  MMMBop – Hansen

19.  My All – Mariah Carey

20.  Livin’ La Vida Loca – Ricky Martin

Good Luck.  And anyone caught using the internet will be disqualified, though I’m not sure it will help all that much???

EDIT:  We have a winner to the challenge.  If you don’t want to be “spoiled”, don’t read her comment or my second comment.

IHOP Blessings

March 21, 2009

This morning, Maren, Sophie and I ventured to IHOP for breakfast.  When the food came, Sophie reminded us to pray for the food.  With our hands placed in the proper prayer position, this is what Sophie offered:

“Thank you food.

Thank you apple juice.

Thank you daddy coffee yucky.

The End.”

Dear Diary,

March 14, 2009

August 18, 2007 (or thereabouts)

I’m giving Maren the night off from feeding.  It’s been a while since she had a good night’s sleep.  We’ve prepared a bottle to give to Sophia for the middle of the night when she wakes up.  I’ve placed it in the bottle warmer in her room so I can quickly heat it up when she gets hungry.  I must remember to take it out if I don’t use it.

Only nominally related to LOST

March 5, 2009

One of the side benefits of being obsessed with LOST is I now have at my disposal a quick list of character names to act as fake names for examples in class.  Today, I replaced 33 real names of my students in one class with names of people on LOST so I can show another class their grades.  I quickly came up with 33 new names and have more to spare!
